Happy Family Day 👨‍👩‍👧

Happy Family Day to everyone in Canada!! I ended up taking the day off after all and it was so worth it! I had an entire day with my husband and daughter. I can't remember the last time we went for a walk the 3 of us. The sun was out and I was in heaven. First we made a massive brunch at the house. Pancakes, bagels with cream cheese, bacon and eggs, hash browns, mix berries, and tater tots for London. I was able to put her down for a nap (first time in a long, long, time) which I was extremely happy about. Then Kevin and I had an afternoon nap and wow!! What a feeling. It was amazing, However I almost felt guilty for napping knowing I now have a business to run and a million and one things to do. When London woke up we decided to go for a walk. I was actually planning this since I saw the sun first thing in the morning (I love walks/hikes! I mean come on I am from BC) We walked over to Ramsdan Park. I was so happy to see that the construction is finally over and the newly renovated park is now open just in time for the summer. The water park looks incredible. Anyway London went on the swings, teeter-totter, and all the new stations they have including music. On the way home everyone kept waving at Kevin and I. Then we realized London waves and says "hi" with a huge smile to everyone and anyone. It literally warms my heart each and every time.

The three of us had a shower. I don't know if I have told you guys but our house sucks in the way that we don't have any bath tubs. Our house is super modern with three bathrooms and not one tub! So poor London has outgrown her little baby tub but flip and flops like a fish dunking her head in and out of the water. So I was surprised to see how much London loved the shower head! I swear to god this kid always has a smile on her head. I consider myself very lucky for having such a happy, social baby. we finished the night by going to Yamato's for dinner. The food was amazing (which I am happy about as last time I went I was not impressed) I can't imagine a better way to spend family day. I would be happy doing this everyday for the rest of my life. Hope you guys had an awesome day too.

Thank you mommy bloggers!!

We woke up to tons of snow this morning. So I decided to take the day off since I had to get papers ready for my bookkeeper anyway. A couple days ago I came across a profile on social media and instantly I was hooked. I guess she was a teacher so she has lots of  awesome kid friendly recipes and games on her blog. She is also obsessed with her kids and it makes me feel like I am not the only crazy mommy out there. (Her website is www.mamapapabubba.com.) There was one recipe that I just had to try! Baby play dough. Edible baby play dough. London and I literally whipped it up in 5 minutes or less. We had every ingredient in our kitchen too. 5 ingredients.

- 1/2 cup Love Child Organics Oat & Chia instant cereal

- 1/2 cup Corn Starch

- 1/4 cup Love Child Organics apple puree

- 1 tablespoon coconut oil/butter

- 2 tablespoon boiling water

The more you work it the more the coconut oils comes out and it quickly becomes this beautiful consistency. I'm pretty sure you can use any baby instant cereal, and any baby fruit pure. I added food colouring and at first it may look a little marbled but if you keep at it it will look identical to play dough. London was in heaven! It brings me so much joy watching her feel like such a big girl by helping me. I love being able to spend quality time with her. I thought this was all so perfect since London is obsessed with Love Child anything. I did not know they are Canadian. London loves it so much that I have bought a bunch to hand out as free snacks at the store. So come by and enjoy some duck puffs, rice cakes, & apple pures on us.

IKEA you are awesome!!

I have literally been waiting for the day that London would be into kitchens, cooking, baking, and dishes. I thought she was too young, however I always get pictures of her at friends house playing with their toy kitchens. I didn't want a plastic one. When I came across the IKEA one not only was the price of $129.99 amazing, but it was wooden and it looked amazing! The only two negatives were A. I had to drive all the way to IKEA (with London in the back seat) and B. I had to build it (high 5 to myself) as Kevin was away for business in LA. Both negatives totally worth the kitchen, as now London can entertain herself as apose to her screaming "mommy" every two seconds for me to pick her up (not letting me do a thing, like cook or write a work email)  I also bought a second item. A little table with two little chairs for get this, $29.99. London is crazy about colouring, scribbling, basically anything that makes her feel like a big girl. Like sitting in her own chair, with her own table, her own paper and he own pencil crayons. So happy with my purchases.  The Swedish really know what they are doing.  http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/60319972/

She literally is entertained for hours now.

Happy New Years!!

It's 2017! I picked some of my favourite pictures from 2016, which was extremely hard since there are so many. I love every picture of London. Scrolling through all the pictures was bitter sweet. I know everyone always says this, but time really is going by too quickly! Long days, short years. I miss it when London was just 20 pounds and no teeth. She has nine now, and one of them is a molar!

I hope you all had an amazing holidays! I have a couple new years resolutions, starting with taking better care of my body, which means eating right = eating breakfast!(I am the worst at eating breakfast) I eat pretty well other than that. I love food. I eat tons of veggies, and organic foods, however I eat so much sugar. I have a weakness for anything sweet, cookies, candy, ice cream. And the worst thing is that I do not drink water. This is a huge resolution as I want London to get good habits from me. She copies every little thing she sees anybody do. She will even sit leaning back on the couch the exact way my husband does. If he decides to take his sweater/ jacket off, London will do the same.

go to bed at a decent time     /  yoga at least once a week    / if I can't eat a balance breakfast make a shake    /      thinking positive 24/7     / focus on whats important        /prioritizing        /    less instagram

p.s I am so sorry for the delay in blogging. I promise to be more consistent (at least twice a week)  I have lots of good news coming up.

Fiesta Farms!!

Fiesta Farms where have you been all my life?!? OMG I am obsessed!! I like to pride myself in being extremely loyal. I'm talking we do our weekly grocery shop every Sunday at Summerhill market, (for the last 7 years/Kevin his whole life) and for our nightly dinners I go to Harvest Wagon. Not impressed with Pusateri's anymore (except their catering) and then once a month we will go to Loblaw's to get junk food, bottled water, paper towels, basics. I have tried so hard to like Whole Foods but its just not my thing. I get home with a bunch of healthy things but then when I cook them, they turn out to be the not so good healthy tasting food. Plus Whole Foods does not carry any good cereals (Lucky Charms, Frosted Flakes) Long story short I have been trying to find a one stop shop where I can do my weekly grocery shopping. A place that has healthy choices but also the option for the not so healthy foods. Fiesta Farms is definitely it. Their prices were not outrages. We must have gone at the perfect time because there was bread fresh out of the over. It was amazing!! and London ate an entire bagel herself (no wonder her tush is so big).  I was happy with the selection of everything they had! The only thing I might miss from Summerhill is the pre-made food. However, not having a bunch of pre-made food in your fridge encourages you to cook.  I love cooking! I highly recommend going to Fiesta Farms.

P.S London is at such a fun age where she giggles at everything and everyone. She runs around handing me things to throw in the cart (then I secretly put them back when she is not looking) She wants to taste everything on the spot (very demanding little girl). Grocery shopping has become so much fun with little London! Not to mention everyone is so nice to me because of her!

Wishing I Was Home Today ....

I get a call from my nanny at about 2pm ( I always pick up right away when it is her) and right away I could hear London screaming in the background, "you need to come home right away, London fell, she is bleeding, London is hurt"  I swear to god it felt like my heart skipped a beat and not in a good type of way. I closed the store right away and basically ran home in the snow. My heart literally feeling like it was going to burst not knowing how I was going to find my daughter. Thankfully I live one block away, so I got home pretty fast. When I walked in all I could see was blood everywhere. On the floors (white marble) on London's face, her clothes. I sort of started to freak out when I saw the size of the cut but Kevin put me in my place and said in a very stern voice, "calm down, you are no good to her if you are freaking out, relax, its okay"  Being able to hold her was the best feeling. Knowing that yes she was hurt but that it was nothing extremely serious. She calmed down after a little. I've heard that the face bleeds a lot. I have also heard that babies heal fast. My poor nanny is probably suicidal because of this. I know how much she loves London, and I know it was not her fault. She actually said that it happened right in front of her eyes. I guess London tripped over our bulldog and fell face first on a sharp edge (our house is very modern and not the kid friendliest) Anyway, just wanted to fill you guys in and remind you to be extra careful with these little people! I am just happy she is okay. I have been thinking about her all day and wish I was with her right now!

Distillery Christmas Market

What an amazing weekend! I decided to close the shop Sunday ( yes take a day off finally!) and we decided to go to the Distillery Christmas Market. Lucky there was no line (apparently on Sundays it goes around the block). It costs $5 to get in but only on weekends. It was extremely busy but oh so worth it. There was so much to do and so much to see. London was in heaven which meant that I was in heaven. I was just happy to have some quality time with my hubby and daughter. We had hot chocolate and apple cider. London went on the carousel for the first time. That was a huge hit. We were even given a Rudolph nose as we entered the park which made London laugh very hard every time I put it on. (it would not fit her tiny nose) I recommend seeing the pink trees. The big christmas tree reminds me of the one in NYC at the Rockerfeller centre. Im very happy we got a chance to go, I was afraid I was going to miss it this year, and with London only being a toddler once, I want to make sure she gets to experience everything. Make sure you get down there before they close. The last day is Thursday December 22nd 2016. The Christmas market is closed Mondays but Distillery district is still open. Tuesdays is pets day and they recommend you take double strollers during weekdays (due to larger crowds on weekends). They are open from noon to 9pm (10pm Fridays and Saturdays).

London has changed so much, she is like an actual little mini human roaming around (not a little baby anymore) She likes to shop now, she will pick up stuffed animals, toys, and even clothes. She likes to feed Kevin and I. She even gives us kisses at the same time which is the sweetest thing ever! I am crazy about her #familygoals

London Lainey Lewis

I am currently working 7 days a week. Which leaves very little time for me to do anything like, cook, bake, walks, distillery christmas market, etc. I am however extremely flattered and humbled by all the people who come by the store and tell me they read the blog, or tell me they drove down from Markham/up north. Please be patient I have very exciting news coming up and cannot wait to fill you guys in. I am also currently in the process of setting up our online shopping so that ALL of our items can be available for purchasing online. London however is starting to notice my absence. When I get home she will not let me put her down for a second without starting to cry. She will give me hugs and kisses none stop which literally melts my heart each and every time. She won't let anyone put her to sleep but me, but then because she has not seen me all day she tries to stay up. And me being the big softy that I am have to admit I have let me stay up for a few nights past 9:30 - 10PM (normally her bedtime would be 6:30-7pm) The other thing that is happening that breaks my heart is that when she comes to the store during the day she wont want to leave. Once she leaves  its always with her full out crying/screaming. I have actually had to close the store down a few times and carry her all the way home as she will not go in the stroller. I almost wonder if she should come to the store or save her the cry? feeling a little confused. I just love seeing her for that short period so much. Being able to hold her kiss her! I am crazy about her!...okay I am going to stop now.

I heart H&M!

How adorable does London look today? I got these overalls for her at H&M for $29.99. They had so many cute things I was like OMG!!!

I am not going to lie to you, I have a little bit of a shoe problem when it comes to London and I. I have issues. I can't stop. Am I creating a little monster in my daughter? She literally copies every little thing I do. Hey, at least we look cute!

London's 1st Time Seeing Snow

Wow. I went from wearing a skirt to winter apparel all in a weeks time frame. When I first me moved here from Victoria I didn't like the cold. I didn't like the snow. Now I love it. I love how Toronto's seasons are all true to themselves. Summer is hot, winter is cold, spring is mild, and fall, my favourite is perfect. I love bundling up in a warm winter jacket, I love wearing toques, and there is something about a fire on a freezing day.

It was the sweetest thing, waking up this morning to a white backyard and watching London point at it not knowing what it was. When we finally got outside she would just stand there and let the snow hit her face and hands with a huge smile on her face. Me + London = heaven.  I know that I am probably going to piss you off on how obsessed I am with my daughter. But it is the honest truth, I can't get enough of her!

Sweet November

Thank you November, for being so good to us this year! We had the most perfect fall weather. Sunny with just the perfect amount of coolness, and can we talk about the leaves, the fall colours? Do you ever look at the floor and see a perfect maple leaf?

On the same token, it is a little crazy how warm it has been. Vancouver who is supposed to be mild this time of year is apparently freezing. Global warming? Maybe now would be a good time to watch Leonardo DiCaprio's new documentary. Either way, lets enjoy this weather as I don't think it will last much longer.

Highlight Of My Day ....

I wake up every morning to my daughters voice (sweetest sound) talking/blabbing/giggling. I go to her bedroom to be greeted with a huge smile. It is the best feeling when she wraps her arms around me as we head to the kitchen to heat up her bottle. We go back to my bedroom and get back in bed with daddy. I feed her as we snuggle in bed and watch Sesame street. She is very mellow in the morning and I love it. When the show finishes I let her run around with my shoes, purses while I get ready. She likes to copy and mimic everything I do, brushing my teeth, brushing my hair, checking my emails (its super cute). We then go to her bedroom, I chose her outfit and start to chase her around the bedroom while I manage to dress her, put her shoes on, and of course a cute hair do. Thats it. Thats all the time I get with her. 2 hours in the morning and then I am gone to work all day. By the time I get home she is asleep in bed. Sometimes she will stop by the store once and if I am lucky even twice, but I only get a few minutes with her. Our nanny however is amazing! They are out and about everyday with friends from our neighborhood which is awesome. She sends me pictures and videos throughout the day. They make me extremely happy and I even feel proud as she has grown into a bright, independent one year old.
